Title: Spirit Stones
Description: This serene pile of rocks is located at the Toshogu shrine in Nikko, Japan. This shrine, known to be a place of solitude and meditation for centuries, is now bustling with people, tour guides yelling into megaphones, and the bright flashes of cameras. As I contributed to this invasion of modernity, this pile of rocks caught my attention. Amidst the busy, fast moving tourists, it keeps its form, humble and quiet. Perhaps this pile of rocks can be a lesson to an ever-globalizing world: even when everything around you is moving about, there’s joy in being still.

It may get displayed at the Texan Cultures Institute in San Antonio from January to March. Cool sauce :)

Tell a story about a location.
I picked the intersection of E. Travis and Navarro in downtown San Antonio. Three interesting locations are along this intersection. There is a park called Travis Park, which is where the highest concentration of homeless gather in the city. Travis Park Methodist Church is also across the street from the park and has been providing food, clothes, and services to the homeless community for about two decades. Across the street from Travis Park is also St. Anthony Hotel, one of the oldest, high-class hotels in San Antonio.
These photos include text that document what I heard and read about these three places that touch E. Travis/Navarro intersection.
